3 Day Weekend at the Beach

The boys and I headed to "Happy Camp" in Netarts, OR for the weekend. Karlynn and Scott had always raved about Happy Camp so we were excited to check it out. It was beautiful. Netarts is about 7 miles south of Tillamook and is a very quiet, relaxing town. The house we stayed in sits near the bay and the ocean so it has an amazing view.

We joined our friends, Tom and Janey who are parents to Kaenan and Aletta. Ryan and Kaenan played t-ball, football and basketball together so we got to know the Combs family well. It was fun to hang out with them off of the sports field.

Matt, Tom and the boys went crabbing each morning and caught a total of 27 crab. YUM! Needless to say, we pigged out on crab all weekend. AT $5.99 a pound, we figured we had at least $100 worth. Besides crabbing we spent the weekend walking on the beach, playing games and watching movies (and football). It was just the kind of weekend that I love at the beach.

As you can see in the pictures, we woke up Sunday morning to a gorgeous day at the coast. We spent time digging in the sand. The only glitch in our weekend was the 2 times that Kristen had to reinact Baywatch rescue missions. Aletta and Ryan (at different times) were both surprised by a strong wave that knocked them into the water. It scared the heck out of them (and me!). Anyway, Janey decided that I it was too bad we didn't have the events videotaped....we could have won America's Funniest Home Video with my graceful sprints in to the water!!

So, just another experience that reinforces that I need to win the lottery. Then I can buy a beach house to visit every weekend!

We miss you Jon, Jill, Andrew and Avery!!!!

A Family Christmas

Ok...it's been a long time since I have updated the blog. I have been on mental vacation I suppose. December was a very busy month highlighted with the visit from Jon, Jill, Andrew and Avery! Our memories of Christmas include many things. Here is our top 10 list of Holiday Happenings.

1. Luke's Holiday program. He took it very seriously and marched in like a prince!
2. The 1 a.m. arrival of the Omaha Swansons. There was no way we would miss being there to pick them up. The arrival hug from Andrew to Luke was priceless.
3. Our annual Cinnabon eating tradition on Christmas Eve morning. Yum! Scott joined in on the pure sugar treat this year.
4. Making cookies for Santa. Of course, Avery's was pink!
5. Santa's visit at Aunt Amy's house. Luke was starstruck and told me how much he was shaking. Ryan was skeptical and even asked him while on his lap..."Are you real?"
6. The stampede down the stairs once the kids realized that it was Christmas morning. The squeals of pleasure when they saw the presents sitting by the fireplace was what we had hoped for. The three amigos became Seahawk football players while Avery was showered in more princess products.
7. Christmas morning brunch and present opening with the whole clan. The snow and a Blazer win made the day perfect.
8. The sleepover at Scott and Kiki's house in Olympia. Matt Damon, more egg casserole, and the visit with Swanson aunts, uncles, and cousins made for a fun weekend.
9. Cousins!!! The kids played so hard together that I hardly saw them. They all slept soundly at night!
10. Watching the Blazers win their 13th straight game from a SUITE. It was awesome...Go Blazers!!
